Last night it was Rudiger’s turn to find the net with a header so well placed and weighted, any top striker would have been proud of it. It followed hot on the heels of Cesar Azpilicueta’s crucial goal that gave us the lead late on against Watford at the weekend.

Antonio Rudiger has called on his Chelsea team-mates to make amends for their shock loss against Burnley by bouncing back against title rivals Tottenham next weekend. Rudiger, who was making his Premier League debut following his close-season move from Roma, conceded his team’s response to Cahill’s sending off was not good enough.

Rudiger: “If you have a red card early in the game it’s a shock moment for everyone but we are all professionals and we need to do better in those kind of situations. We conceded three goals too easily. We tried our best but at the end of the day football is about results and we lost. We have to take the positives from the game, like the second half, work hard during the week and play a good match against Tottenham.”

German defender Antonio Rudiger today became the latest addition to the Chelsea squad when he completed his transfer from Roma, and shortly after signing the 24-year-old spoke to the club’s official website at Cobham.

Chelsea’s newest recruit, Antonio Rudiger, has inherited the number 2 shirt that belonged to Branislav Ivanovic for the better part of the past 10 years. Like Ivanović, Rüdiger is a “natural” center back who can play full back. It’s good to be versatile and provide different options.

Antonio Rudiger has taken to Instagram to introduce himself to the Chelsea faithful.

Rudiger’s move to Stamford Bridge was completed on Sunday afternoon, for what the BBC reported to be an initial £29M fee. It may well prove to be a small price to pay for a player who already has plenty of experience at the top, despite being just 24-years-old.

The German international read his C.V aloud on Instagram, before revealing his delight at becoming a Blue.

Antonio Rudiger signs for Chelsea

Antonio Rudiger has completed his transfer from AS Roma to Chelsea, for a reported transfer fee in the region of £34M.

After Nathan Ake and John Terry departed, Antonio Conte found himself in dire need of defensive reinforcements. He acted fast, and got his man. Pictured below is Rudiger signing his Chelsea contract.

Welcome aboard, Antonio!

Rudiger set to undergo Chelsea medical today

Antonio Rudiger will undergo a medical in London today ahead of a move to Chelsea, according to The Sun.

As per The Sun, Rudiger is on the verge of joining the Premier League champions, in a move that will set Chelsea back a whopping £34M.

Rudiger has proven himself able to perform consistently in one of Europe’s top five leagues, and also for the German national team, that may be a small price to pay for an accomplished centre-back, who is only going to get better.

The Sun believe that Rudiger’s arrival could see Cesar Azpilicueta shifted out to right-wing-back. It is unclear where that would leave Victor Moses, who was one of the surprise stars of the season last time around.

The tabloid note that Rudiger’s arrival is unlikely to have any impact on Gary Cahill and David Luiz, who are expected to continue at the heart of Antonio Conte’s back three.

Agent in London for talks ahead of £34M move

Antonio Rudiger’s agent is in London to finalise the AS Roma centre-back’s mega-money transfer to Chelsea, according to Sky Sports.

One can only imagine that Antonio Conte is in the hunt for defensive reinforcements this summer, with both Nathan Ake and John Terry departing to AFC Bournemouth and Aston Villa respectively without being replaced.

Sky Sports believe that Rudiger will soon become Chelsea’s first notable signing of the summer transfer window (sorry, Willy).

It is reported that the German international’s agent landed in London on Saturday to discuss personal terms ahead of a £34M move to Stamford Bridge. Sky Sports note that negotiations are at an advanced stage, and the deal is very close to being completed.

Rudiger would mark the beginning of what will, hopefully, be a very busy summer for the Premier League champions. By the sound of things, this one could be wrapped up in the coming days.

Inter Milan target Chelsea defender with Rudiger to arrive

Inter Milan target Chelsea defender with Rudiger to arrive

With the imminent arrival of Antonio Rudiger from Roma, Inter Milan are exploring the possibility of signing out of favour Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen.

According to the Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, Christensen’s string of impressive appearances for Borussia Monchengladbach over the last two seasons have caught the eye of Inter boss Luciano Spalletti who is thought to be keen on securing the services of the young Danish international.

It is no secret that Antonio Conte has been looking to strengthen his defensive options this transfer period with a number of star names, such as Leonardo Bonucci, being linked to the Premier League club.

Although it had been rumoured that the Blues boss would look towards the Academy to bolster his squad for the coming season, the imminent arrival of Antonio Rudiger and the departure of Nathan Ake to Bouremouth last week suggest that Christensen could be the latest Chelsea youngster to be sold.

Consequently, Inter Milan have been encouraged to target one of the Blues’ best defensive prospects as a potential signing.
